Fallen Physicians Due to COVID (6 MD physician recorded passed away due to COVID)

  • Joseph J. Costa, M.D. (DOD 07/27/2020)
    Revered doctor at Mercy who ran critical care unit and treated COVID-19 patients.
  • Sean McCagh, M.D., Cumberland MD (DOD 01/31/2021)
    A local dermatologist that practiced for 25 years in Cumberland. He was a partner at Western Maryland Dermatology and the founder of The Hooley Plunge, which features hundreds of people dunking themselves in Lake Habeeb at Rocky Gap State Park, funds programs ranging from Special Olympics to some offerings that support special needs students in county public schools.  The event has raised more than $1.4 million in 16 years.
    • Amanda Cook Zivic, M.D., Jessup MD (DOD 12/23/2020)
      A forensic psychiatrist who worked at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital, the state psychiatric hospital in Jessup. (Submitted by Dr. Joyce Harrison)
    • Prafulchandra J. Patel M.D., (DOD April 24, 2020)
      A contracted general surgeon at GBMC from 1/9/1979 to 9/30/2013 and then 1/15/2014 to 9/12/2014.  (Submitted by Dr. Robin Motter-Mast)
    • Dr. Sudarshian Siva
      A hospitalist at Suburban Hospital, Johns Hopkins, died of COVID in August 2021.  (Submitted by Dr. Ashley Bone)
