• The AMA has developed comprehensive messaging resources to support efforts to communicate about the COVID-19 vaccine. We encourage you to leverage these tools to support ongoing efforts to communicate clearly and consistently about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine to end the pandemic.
  
  
  1. COVID-19 Vaccine Messaging Guide. We are providing this tool to the Federation, AMA Ambassadors and others who may benefit from this compilation of messaging. In addition to providing information reflective of public health guidance and AMA policy, we believe the content of this guide will be helpful to inform future legislative testimony, equipping spokespeople at the state level, and providing Federation communicators with social media content. It includes guidance on successful messaging and words to avoid, sample social media posts, information on how to handle detractors online, and how physicians can protect their online reputation.
  2. COVID-19 Vaccines FAQs for Patients and Physicians.  Regularly updated information about the COVID-19 vaccine in a format that can be printed and shared with patients and physicians. The most current versions will always be accessible via these links:

  3. COVID-19 Vaccine Resource Center.  The AMA is featuring this prominently on our website to curate clinical vaccine guidance from the FDA, CDC and other health organizations to help combat vaccine misinformation. We will be frequently updating this resource.
               • We have built a multi-channel marketing communications #VaccinesWork campaign to provide physicians and patients with education and tools on the science and safety of vaccines. We urge physicians to take the pledge to #MaskUp and get the #COVID19Vaccine and get new materials pushed to their inbox as soon as they become available.
               • We have also produced, in partnership with the FDA and CDC, multiple What Physicians Need to Know webinars on the topics of vaccine safety, supply and distribution, which have reached thousands of physicians.

  • ImmuNet COVID-19 Registration Instructions
    Provide users high level information about the multi-step VFC or Non VFC Covid-19 Provider Registration Process. This document will outline what information providers need before starting a registration, and what is included in the complete registration process.
  • Quick Reference Guide COVID-19 Vaccine Registration
    This guide will assist potential COVID-19 vaccinators with registration and ordering in ImmuNet. Only one registration is needed per location.  Note that practices with multiple locations must separately register each location that plans to order and have vaccines shipped to and stored at that location.

  Registration through ImmuNet to receive COVID-19 vaccine will open for primary care providers on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

  Primary care providers will need to complete the CDC COVID-19 provider agreement through their existing VFC profile if applicable or in a new profile if non-VFC (paper copies of the agreement will not be accepted).  Please review the Quick Reference Guide: COVID-19 Vaccine Registration & Ordering (beginning page 2 for Non-VFC; page 5 for VFC) before attempting to complete your registration.

  PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION COMPLETION DOES NOT MEAN COVID-19 VACCINE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING.

  COVID-19 vaccine is still in very limited supply and the State of Maryland is vaccinating according to ACIP phase 1A recommendations (front line healthcare workers and residents/staff of LTCFs).  If you are seeking COVID vaccine for yourself or staff please contact your local health department.  Once COVID-19 vaccine is available for ordering in ImmuNet you will be notified. 
  
  In preparation to receive COVID vaccine for your eligible patients please review the following: 

  • You must verify all emails submitted to ImmuNet to finalize account activation.
  • Check your vaccine storage units to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Review the manufacturer storage and handling guides: Moderna, Pfizer.
  • Review the emergency use authorization fact sheets: Moderna, Pfizer.
  • Confirm your EHR is able to submit phase 2 data elements (includes: race, ethnicity, email, mobile) to ImmuNet within 24 hours of vaccine administration, per the CDC provider agreement and the Governor’s Executive Order - 01.05.2021.
  • Providers without an EHR should strongly consider the use of an EHR to report required data elements.  Providers failing to report within 24 hrs may be prohibited from receiving additional COVID-19 vaccine.

  It is strongly recommended that primary care providers attend COVID-19 vaccine administration training. Training information for Moderna and Pfizer are listed below. If you have any questions please send to mdh.covidvax@maryland.gov.
