Dispensing

MedChi Physician Dispensing Flier

  • Physician Dispensing in Maryland: An Educational Series

The Physician Dispensing Educational Series is a collaboration between MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.  The state of Maryland has mandated that physicians, upon application or renewal of their permit to dispense medications, must attest that they have completed a prescribed number of continuing medical education credits, specific to the practice of dispensing.  As of 2018, all physicians must complete ten Continuing Medical Education units (CMEs) on dispensing within the five years prior to their renewal or application.

Durable Medical Equipment

  • The regional CMS contractor for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) has developed a physician educational link on our website to help educate physicians on Medicare DME coverage requirements, in an attempt at reducing claim denials attributed to lack of physician documentation.  The format (checklists) is ideal for a busy clinician.  They are planning to continually update and enlarge our educational content.

Remote Patient Monitoring

MedChi Remote Patient Monitoring Opportunities

  • Remote Patient Monitoring - YouTube Video by Gene Ransom, MedChi CEO
Learn about the new Remote Patient Monitoring  (RPM) rules that went into effect January 1, 2020.  Every practice should consider embracing Remote Patient Care (Telehealth and Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM)) to maintain patient care, monitor therapeutic benefit, and identify problems before they become serious.  Treatment failure and admission to a hospital are not options in the time of COVID-19. Thus, there are clinical and economic reasons to embrace what you may have been reluctant to do in the past.
